Lapis Signet Locket Ring

Extraordinary early Victorian lapis signet locket ring c.1840.

18 carat gold of a particularly beautiful buttery colour with ruffled moulded shoulders.

7 grams.

Size 5.

The lapis is carved with an ouroborus encircling the German for ‘I love you’ “ich liebe dich”.

The ouroboros, a serpent eating its tail is a symbol of eternity.

The locket functions well and the stone is entirely stable though the surface has abrasions and chips.
