Charming micromosaic brooch depicting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in the manner of Antonio Aguatti.c.1820.
The spaniel is shown resting in a country landscape.The tiny tasserae mosaic is bordered by slightly larger ‘gold stone’ tesserae and sits within its original copper tray. This is encased within the Victorian 9ct frame.
Aguatti (d.1846)was active in Rome during the first half of the nineteenth century and noted for his mosaics of animals.
