18 carat gold D-shaped Georgian mourning ring for Sir Robert Wigram a British merchant shipbuilder and Tory politician.(1744-1830).
Inscribed to the interior ‘Sir Rob’t Wigram died Nov’r 6 1830 aged 86 years.’
Sir Richard was twice married and had 23 children.He was a highly successful businessman and remembered as a strong supporter of William Pitt.His son Money Wigram was director of the Bank of England.
