Unusual sepia watercolour pendant depicting Hope supported by her anchor watching a shipwreck.The legend emblazoned above reads 'True Affection Strengthens by Time'.c.1790.I would assume this is a mourning piece which makes the motto all the more poignant. The sepia is set beneath a beautifully domed glass with a border of cut-steel beads.The reverse is silver and with a later pendant loop.1 1/4inch by 1 inch.Chain not included.
