Victorian Mourning Ring
£950.00
Superb Victorian mourning ring dated 1883 and 1884.
Chunky 15 carat carved panelled shank supporting an oval cluster of creamy immaculate pearls with a central locket of hair.
7.8 grams
Size 5 3/4
Inscribed ‘In Memoriam of H.Innes died 27 June 1883 and T.H.Innes died 16 October 1884’. Very likely a Scottish family though I haven’t traced them as yet.
The last flowering of Victorian mourning jewellery where the fashion in rings was for more substantial, impactful styles.
