Victorian Tortoise Ring

Quirky late Victorian rose diamond and seedpearl tortoise c.1890 converted to a ring on a fine bevelled 15 carat shank.

The tortoise is beautifully modelled with such a sweet face and seems to crawl slowly across the ring onto the finger. Even the tiny legs and tail are studded with rose diamonds.

The tortoise itself measures 1.2cms.

Ring size 6.

In the Victorian era, the tortoise was considered a good luck charm, a potent symbol representing wisdom, longevity, patience, protection, and endurance.
