Amethyst Swan Fob

Late Georgian gold fob seal set with an amethyst carved with a swan with a feather in it‘s mouth.1820.

An elegant typical reeded design to the gold work with an urn shaped shaft, the base with chamfered corners.9 carat gold.

The intaglio is a specific heraldic  crest identified in Fairbairns as the Whitaker family crest. ‘Out of a ducal coronet, a swan sitting, holding in the mouth a feather.’
