Georgian Gryphon Seal Fob

Unusual mottled agate Georgian fob seal c.1790.

The oval mocha agate is incised with a finely detailed armorial, a shield with three ‘spread-eagled’ gryphon,  with the head of a gryphon above, the whole swagged by ribbons and bell-flowers, typical of late c18th design.

The shank and pendant loop of the fob are beautifully reeded in 15 ct gold.

A most tasteful, elegant fob.
