Georgian Hand Pendant

15 ct Georgian cuffed hand pendant c.1830.

Embellished with textured gold foliage and a forget-me-not in turquoise and garnet, a single turquoise held between thumb and forefinger.

Nicely detailed example down to the fingernails and tiny ring set with a paste.

5.5 grams.

3 cms by 1.5 cms.

Still intact as a clasp and usable for a belcher chain or simply as a pendant.

Some signs of wear commensurate with age.

Increasingly hard to find today.

The hand motif in Georgian jewellery symbolised loyalty, strength, romance ,fidelity and good fortune.
