Masquerade Pendant

Masquerade porcelain patch box pendant c.1820.

The pendant is in the form of a mid c18th aristocratic lady’s head dressed for a masked ball with powdered hair.

The piece is set with rose-diamond eyes, the locket lid has an engraved armorial shield and coronet.

5cms by 3.5cms.

The factories of Meissen and Samson produced these novelties in the early to mid c19th referring to the masked balls so popular in the previous century.
