Pair Essex Spaniels

Charming pair of rock crystal Springer Spaniel reverse carved intaglio ‘Essex’ pendants set in 15ct gold c.1880.

The spaniels are likely English Springer Spaniels in a characteristic ‘pointing’ stance, preparing to chase prey.

1.5cms diameter.

'Essex crystals' as they are commonly known(a misnomer relating to William Essex,noted painted in enamels at the same time) in fact originated in Belgium in the 1860s attributed to an artist named Emile Marius Pradier.
