Pearl Georgian Ourobous Locket

Wonderfully tactile pearl and crystal serpent locket pendant c.1810.

The snake encircles the tear-shaped crystal locket which is in turn bordered by black enamel signifying mourning.

The pearls are themselves symbolic of shed tears.

Tiny amethyst eye.

Hinged locket.

Tiny chip to corner of rear crystal.
