Lovely quality15 ct gold enamel and pearl Victorian mourning pendant dated 1860.
The drop is encircled with a snake symbolising eternal love, the pearls representing tears for the departed.
The Royal Blue enamel specifically symbolises constancy and faithfulness.
The reverse is inscribed Letitia Bicknell Oct.15th 1860.
Immaculate condition.

Letitia(1893-1860)was the wife of Elhanan Bicknell(1788-1861)a prominent British art collector known for his significant patronage of J.M.W. Turner.Letitia was Elhanan's third wife; they married in 1829 and had several children together, including Clarence Bicknell(1842-1918)who became a noted botanist and archaeologist.
