Late Georgian ruby and pearl pansy ring with floral shoulders c.1820.

Each shoulder has a carved and pierced forget-me-not flower supported by leaves on a split shank, all 15 carat gold.

All original, immaculate condition.

Locket-back intact with one nick to the glass.

Size 6.

Pansies were employed in jewellery in the late Georgian and early Victorian period being symbolic of ‘pensee’ or thoughts, a short hand for ‘thinking of you’ ‘pensé a moi’.
