Georgian high carat navette ring containing portrait miniature by Irish artist Frederick Buck c.1790.

The portrait depicts a fashionable young girl with un-powdered, natural hair.

Bright-cut decoration to the shank typical of Irish work.

Frederick Buck (1771-1840),younger brother of the celebrated Adam Buck, was a prolific and successful artist working mostly in his native Cork where his sitters were local gentry and the passing military. He was a pupil of Dublin Society Drawing School in 1783 aged 12.Examples of his work can be found in the V&A collection.
