Vive le Bagatelle Fob

Charming cornelian Georgian fob seal with an intaglio depicting a child chasing a butterfly with the motto ‘Vive Le Bagatelle’.c.1830.

Original Georgian 9ct gold roman setting and stirrup shaped pendant.

The fob can be worn comfortably as a ring though the bale would have to be removed for total comfort.

Intaglio 2.5cms by 2cms.

The French phrase literally means ‘long live frivolity’ or ‘success to nonsense’ expressing a carefree attitude to life.
