George III period 18 carat ‘tree of life’ mourning ring for Hannah Antrobus dated 1772.
The oval glazed bezel contains a tree of life embroidered in hair on cream silk.
The fine enamel shank reads Hanh Antrobus Ob 4 Jan 1772 ae 53.
Size 4.
Excellent condition some losses to enamel see photos.
Born Hannah Sanxay, she married her cousin John Antrobus of Od-rode and lived near Congleton, Cheshire.The Antrobus family were prosperous landowners and bankers.
She is buried in Astbury Church, Congleton.Her portrait was painted by celebrated artist Joseph Highmore.
