Roman 1st century onyx intaglio of Abundantia, the divine personification of prosperity, set in a late c19th, heavy 18ct gold mount.

The highly domed intaglio depicts Abundantia holding a cornucopia, the "horn of plenty," signifying prosperity and wealth and the overflowing harvest.

In her other hand she holds an ear of grain or poppy again for agricultural prosperity.

The shank is tactile and subtly shaped with interesting Egyptian marks. The ring would have likely been a souvenir for early Western tourists to the archeological excavations around the turn of the c20th.

Size 8.5.

9 grams.
